1st 2005 Dear Friends, I'm proud to write this support letter to kick
off Aurora Ortiz's 10th Carlsbad Marathon fundraiser!
I know you are familiar with her story. Aurora fell through the cracks, and she
had a rough time, being visually impaired, and not knowing that there was help
for her situation. She suffered through life, working hard to take care of her
younger brothers and sisters. When
Aurora was 55, two close friends brought her to our Center. A new world opened
up for Aurora. She found out that she could participate in life as a visually
impaired woman. A whole new world opened up for her. Aurora experienced surfing,
horse-back riding, running, water skiing, fishing, bowling, biking, and more.
Aurora is so grateful for her new life, that Aurora dedicated herself to the Blind
Community Center. Aurora
is our Vice -President, Volunteer Coordinator, Renter, and Custodian. Every year,
Aurora runs in the Carlsbad Marathon as a fundraiser. For this year, her efforts
will fund our on- going transportation program. I hope that you will find it in your hearts
to help Aurora in her fundraising efforts. This is her 10th
marathon on our behalf. I know she wants this to be her best effort. Your gift
will enable our participants to enjoy everything from surfing to Arts and Crafts.
Many of our participants would be sitting at home alone, with no hope of much
contact with the outside world. Thank you for your consideration, and I hope you
can support Aurora, “Our Little Giant”. Sincerely, Lee Morton, Executive Director BCC
